Background of the survey

This survey was designed to collect information on how international educators have entered into the field and the qualifications and background that they felt were important at the start of their careers. The anonymous web-based survey was advertised in the INTER-L and SECUSSA-L mailing lists in May 2002. We sincerely thank 190 individuals who took time to responded (response rate = 5.0%).

The survey was administered by Jin Abe, Office of International Student Services, Western Michigan University, with an approval from WMU's Human Subject Institutional Review Board. Please feel free to reproduce the results for non-profit use by using the following citation.
